There are a lot of good things about being a freelance cartoonist/illustrator for your day job. The hours are great and you get to get paid for what you love to do. There are some small downsides however; Like finding out your could have made some money by patenting something Ed had invented in the comic. Sigh… Live and learn eh?
Also, with what you’re thinking about this strip; yes, yes it is.

If it makes you feel better, you’d be over a decade late for patenting it. I had one when I graduated high school. (they’re also sold as “candle warmers” for when you want the scent of a candle without burning it)

I guess there really is nothing new under the sun. I guess it’s just how you re-imagine it. (which is what I tell myself every time I “recycle” an old Friends joke ;p )
